Modify the Mathcad program developed in Problem 3.16 to estimate the minimum gas flow rate in strippers
Question:
Modify the Mathcad program developed in Problem 3.16 to estimate the minimum gas flow rate in strippers so that it can be used to estimate the minimum air flow required for water cooling. Test your program with the data from Example 8.7.
Data From Problem 3.16:-
Modify the Mathcad program developed in Problem 3.16 to estimate the minimum gas flow rate in strippers so that it can be used to estimate the minimum air flow required for water cooling. Test your program with the data from Example 8.7.
Data From Example 8.7:-
A plant requires 15 kg/s of cooling water to flow through its distillation-equipment condensers. The water will leave the condensers at 318 K. It is planned to cool the water for reuse by contact with air in a countercurrent adiabatic cooling tower. The dry-bulb temperature of the entering air is 303 K and its wet-bulb temperature is 297 K. The wet-bulb temperature approach must be 5 K. The air rate to be used is 1.5 times the minimum. A specialized packing will be used for which KY a is expected to be 0.9 kg/m3·s if the liquid mass velocity is at least 2.7 kg/m2-s and the gas mass velocity is at least 2.0 kg/m2-s. Compute the dimensions of the packed section and the make-up water requirement due to evaporation in the tower.
