Shana Alexander is a soon-to-be graduate of the four-year Hospitality Management program at State University. As a senior Shana participated in her school’s career day and, as result, made contact with two different hotel companies. In the weeks following the career day, Shanna successfully completed two job interviews with the companies represented at the career day.
One of the companies interviewing Shana operates 75 franchised select-service hotels under a variety of franchise brands. If Shana elected to take the job offer made to her by this company it is likely that, if she was successful in her career with them, she would follow a path leading to her becoming a regional manager responsible for the administration of several hotels located in a designated geographic region assigned to her.
The other company Shana interviewed with operates large convention hotels in major metropolitan areas in the United States. If she accepted a position with this company her career path, and if she were again successful, her career path would include becoming the GM of one of this company’s large convention properties.
