Provincial/Territorial human rights codes ensure that the rights of every Canadian are protected and that all persons are treated with equality and respect. Discrimination based on protected grounds highlighted in the legislation is prohibited in not only the employment relationship but also the delivery of goods and services. Therefore, while the application of the Charter of Rights and Freedoms and human rights codes extends beyond just the employment relationship, they both have a significant impact on workplace practices.
