Selection is the process of choosing among individuals who have been recruited to fill existing or projected job openings. The purpose of selection is to find the “best” candidate. Because the quality of the company’s human resources is often a competitive advantage in achieving the company’s strategic objectives, selection of employees has considerable strategic importance. Those individuals selected will be implementing strategic decisions and, in some cases, creating strategic plans.
