WorldWideScience.org has a mission to accelerate scientific discovery and progress by providing a global gateway for one-stop searching of scientific databases and portals from around the world. A user is able to search many data sources around the world with a single query and then translate the resulting materials into a language the user understands. WorldWideScience.org offers real-time searching of over 100 databases and portals of scientific literature published in many languages from more than 70 countries. In addition, translation of multilingual scientific literature is available through the site. The Office of Scientific and Technical Information (OSTI), a unit of the Office of Science within the U.S. Department of Energy, created and maintains the site for the WorldWideScience Alliance.
