In the manufacture, the tube, which has a diameter slightly larger than the yoke, is slipped over the yoke and its end is crimped to get into the pockets of the yoke. If this connection becomes loose, an undesirable play is detected in the steering wheel. If the yoke and the tube are too tight, the assembly may not come apart as desired in a crash or for repairs. The part is assembled by slipping the tube over the yoke and crimping the end of the tube into pockets.
