Lloyd was a Drake University security guard on duty at the university’s annual streetpainting event. A student informed Lloyd of an apparent altercation between a football player, Joseph, and a woman, Kane, the nature of which was later disputed. Seeing Joseph holding Kane in the air with her feet kicking, Lloyd ordered Joseph to release Kane twice before Joseph put Kane down and lunged angrily toward Lloyd, who then used pepper spray on Joseph and hit him on the leg with a baton. Lloyd’s actions were the subject of student complaints and local media coverage, and demands from activist groups for an investigation. During the investigation, Lloyd was given a desk job and assured that he would not lose his job. However, Drake fired Lloyd. Lloyd sued for wrongful termination. Decide. Explain. See Lloyd v.
