Whigham proposed the idea of a company kickball game to his superior, who instructed him to proceed. Whigham then made the arrangements for a facility rental, the T-shirts, drinks, and snacks with the company funds he was authorized to use. He promoted the event, which took place on a Friday at 3:00 pm, using the company intranet. Roughly half of the company’s employees were in attendance.
