As noted in this chapter, the school is absolved from any liability for not providing FAPE when the parent refuses services. What if school personnel strongly believe that the parents’ actions are grossly inappropriate and will cause significant harm to the child if the special education services are not provided? Should the school have an obligation in that case, even if the IDEA does not require it?
