5 WRITTEN (AND RESEARCH) ASSIGNMENT The use of energy in hotels greatly impacts upon the environment but is invisible to hotel guests, who have a seemingly unlimited supply of energy available, e.g. to switch the lights on or turn the TV on. Energy is used everywhere in hotels, for HVAC, in the guest rooms, the kitchens, for the laundry, the pool, the lifts and escalators and so on.
