In most traditional cultures social roles are prescribed individuals, there is a clear distinction between good and evil in behavior, individuals’ choices are restricted to the boundaries of social perceptions, and truth is revealed through the competition of ideas. Is it possible that all or some of these considerations are truly applicable to traditional societies? Justify your answer and in so doing provide examples based on your knowledge of such cultures.
