For most people these certainly are impressive results, but if you're one of the millions of loyal fans of Amazon.com, these results might seem like mere business as usual. Internet entrepreneur Jeff Bezos founded Amazon.com in a suburban Seattle, Washington, garage in July 1994. A year later, the company launched a Web site. Within a month of the company's launch, Amazon had shipped products to customers in all 50 states and 40 different countries. In 1996, the company's first full year of operations, sales totaled $15.7 million and by 2000 they were over $1 billion. Sales today surpass a whopping $10 billion a year.
