5 May Sold on credit to Ace Furnishings, 3 desks list price £150 each, less trade discount of 33^ per cent 10 May Sold on credit to Comfy Chair Co, 2 dining suites list price £360 each, less trade discount of 25 per cent 18 May Purchased the following goods on credit from The Top Woodworkers 24 kitchen chairs list price £12.00 each, less trade discount of 25 per cent 12 wall cupboards list price £10 each, trade discount of 20 per cent All transactions are subject to VAT at a rate of 10 per cent.

In addition to the above, Smithers received an invoice for £110 on 20 May from Jones. This was for shop fittings supplied for use within the business and included VAT at 10 per cent.

You are required to:

(a) Calculate the net value of the invoice in each of the four instances mentioned above.

(b) Write up the sales account, purchases account, shop fittings account, VAT account and relevant personal accounts for the month of May. Your VAT account should show the amount owing to/by Customs and Excise as at 31 May 20-6.
