A hollow glass tube is bent into the form of a slightly tilted rectangle, as shown in the figure. Two small ball bearings can be introduced into the tubes at one corner; one rolls clockwise and the other counterclockwise down to the opposite corner at the bottom. The balls are started out simultaneously from rest, and note that each ball must roll the same distance to reach the destination. The question is: which ball reaches the lower corner first, or do they arrive simultaneously? Why?
