We concluded that the Benthamite, Rawlsian, and Cobb–Douglas social welfare function with a 5 0.5 all agree that the first-best utility allocation u1 5 u2 5 0.5 is optimal, but we also found that they quite dramatically disagree on what the second-best utility allocation is. Explain why.
