In one of his papers devoted to the color of skylight, Lord Rayleigh used physical reasoning and dimensional analysis to deduce the wavelength dependence of the intensity of light scattered by a particle in the atmosphere. Invent Rayleigh’s argument, beginning with his assumption that the ratio of the scattered field amplitude to the incident field amplitude could depend on 

(i) The volume of the particle,

(ii) The distance from the particle to the observation point,

(iii) The wavelength of the scattered light, and

(iv) The speed of light.
