Interview a sample of project managers. Divide your sample into two small subsamples: one for managers of information systems projects and one for managers of other types of projects. Ask each respondent to identify personal leadership attributes that contribute to successful project management and explain why these are important. Summarize your results. What seem to be the attributes most often cited as leading to successful project management, regardless of the type of project? Are there any consistent differences between the responses in the two subsamples? If so, what are these differences? Do they make sense to you? If there are no apparent differences between the responses of the two subsamples, why not? Are there no differences in the skill sets necessary for managing information systems projects versus managing other types of projects?
