Estimating a minute. Ask survey subjects to estimate 1 minute without looking at a watch or clock. Each subject should say “go” at the beginning of the minute and then “stop” when he or she thinks that 1 minute has passed. (Alternatively, you could repeatedly time yourself by looking away from any watch or clock and then noting the correct time when you think that 1 minute has passed.) Use a watch to record the actual times. Construct a graph of the estimates. Is the graph approximately normal? Does the mean appear to be close to 1 minute?
