(a) Visit a number of fast-food restaurants and observe the technology used to prepare, cook, store and serve food. When these technologies are being developed, what do you think are the main criteria used to judge how effective they are? 

(b) One fast-food chain in the USA is reputed to have invested $30 million in trying to develop a pizza oven which produces pizzas similar to a traditional pizza oven (which is about 3 square metres in area) but that would take up only 1 square metre. Make a case for justifying this level of investment.
