Contact the human resources manager of a local business. Ask if he or she would take a few minutes to discuss some issues about resumes with you. Structure your discussion around the following questions:

a. How often do your encounter “padded” resumes? What is the most common “padding” and how do you react to it?

b. Do you verify the information on resumes? How do you do this? How long does it take for you to be sure that an applicant has been honest about his/her qualifications?

c. What would you do if you found that a pro¬ductive, loyal employee had lied on a resume when he or she applied for a job? Is “resume fraud” an offense that warrants firing?

Summarize the findings from your interview in a memo to your instructor.
