Criteria: Does the individual know the difference between good and poor performance?

Managers need to effectively communicate to an employee the responsibilities and/or requirements of the task and how the employee will be measured as to its successful completion. A manager should not assume that an employee knows the criteria for performing satisfactorily. In addition, managers need to provide feedback so that an employee is aware of what they are doing right and what needs to be improved.
