In their 2017 book Teaching Statistics: A Bag of Tricks, Andrew Gelman and Deborah Nolan provide a series of ideas for active student participation. In one of the activities, while taking an exam, students get to guess what score they will get. If their guess is close enough to their actual exam score, they get bonus points.
