Using Likert's short-form profile of organisational characteristics (see Figure 5.2, p. 147), investigate a hospitality organisation of your choice. (i) Circle what you believe to be the most accurate answer for each of the 18 questions. Where pos- sible, give brief supporting reasons for your answers and make clear any necessary assumptions. (ii) Summarise the pattern of your answers and the extent to which this suggests a clear indication towards one particular model of management system (iii) If possible, try to repeat this investigation for a different hospitality organisation. (iv) Explain the conclusions you draw from your investigation(s). (v) Compare your results with those of your colleagues. To what extent do you feel the investigations support the view that the most efficient organisations adopt Systems 3 or 4 management?
