How many applications can be processed per hour if another faculty is added for test? Admission Process
Question:
How many applications can be processed per hour if another faculty is added for test?
Admission Process in Educational Institute and its Analysis: Mr. Rohit, admission coordinator of a well- known university, attempted to perform an analysis of the admissions. Several tasks were supposed to be performed in the admission process. After examining the process, he identified the tasks and associ- ated times required to perform each task.
He found that each task was assigned to a different person. Each application was a separate process in the sequence. Rohit decided that his office should be prepared to accommodate the maximum demand of processing, i.e., 120 applications per hour. He observed that the work was unevenly divided among the clerks. The clerk responsible for a specific task was trying to cut short his task to keep up with the other persons. Long lines built up during the maximum demand periods. Rohit found that the tasks 1, 2, 3 and 4 were handled by general clerks who were paid Rs. 25 per hour. Job 5 was performed by a faculty paid Rs. 40 per hour. Task 6, i.e., depositing the fee, requires the prior permission of director, was paid Rs. 120 per hour. A review of the job indicated that job 1 should always be the first job and job 6 will be the last. Rohit was under severe pressure to increase productivity and reduce cost.
