Identify several of the main journals in education and psychology. Examine their instructions to potential authors to see what the journal editors require in the way of evidence of measurement reliability, validity, objectivity, and lack of bias based on gender, ethnicity or race, and disability. Compare these instructions with those found in journals that specialize in publishing research about multicultural, gender, or disability issues mentioned in Chapter 2 of this text. Do you see any differences in the instructions related to this issue? Locate a commercially developed measure and review the manual to determine how the developers have treated the concepts of reliability, validity, objectivity, and bias based on gender, ethnicity or race, class, and disability. Compare the information available in the test manual with that from an independent source, such as the MMY or TIP.
