1. The study by the Berkeley researchers (Keeler et al. 1975) that determined the relative costs of car, bus, and rail transportation was completed many years ago. Much has changed since then, including our understanding of medicine and the environment. Following is a list of some of these changes, many of which have been discussed in this chapter and in Chapters 3 and 4.
