Calvin has been put in jail for an armed robbery that he did not commit. Because he is in prison, his wife is left to fend for herself with their three children, all of whom very much miss their daddy. One day Calvin has been meeting with his lawyer and a judge, and he discovers (while the other two people are away) paperwork that indicates that the judge is involved in serious wrongdoing. It occurs to Calvin that he could blackmail the judge with this information, and thereby force the judge to vacate his sentence, so he could go home and be with his family. The information about the judge is so damning that Calvin is sure the judge will do whatever Calvin tells him to do. What should Calvin do? Give your reasoning. Be sure to present both sides of the argument, but only to defend one side. You may want to use principles from utilitarianism, deontology, or virtue ethics to answer the question.
