Human resources management (HRM) is thought of to be the internal business functions responsible for hiring, firing, and training employees. HRM is shifting from focusing on the organization of the business to focusing on the business of organization. Here are the three new roles for HRM:

Strategic Partner

Lawler and Boudreau explained that human resources management (HRM) as strategic partner is needed for talent development. It helps creates a corporate center of excellence, develop the right metrics and analytics and how human capital management can impact business results.

Hr as Change Agent

HRM as the facilitator for positive changes and promotes a healthy working environment, reassure employees and eliminate fear of uncertainty. They help employees embrace and capitalize on change by communicating and engaging others by participating.

Hr as the Employee Advocate / Employee Champion

HRM as the voice of the employees issues or concerns, crisis management on both on and off work, and can be seen as “morale officer”. They ensure that employees are treated both fair and just regardless of their circumstances. It is their job to make sure the employees are highly motivated and happy.

In our small retail furniture, we don’t have complex roles for HRM so I’d like to apply these roles into RPZ marketing.

As we know, RPZ marketing’s amalgamation with Genuflect creates fear and uncertainty and most especially an alignment of resources dilemma. HRM can use this opportunity to be an employee advocate, a strategic partner and change agent by communicating to the consultants and reassuring that the merger is going to be a positive experience. They could also advocate an investment in human capital for the traditional consultants who are not equipped with social media, as we have witnessed the high demands with RPZ consultants. It will create an economic value for the consultants who are not equipped with social media and keeps them competitive especially in this rapid change of marketing. It would also instill employee loyalty and a positive environment that will keep people highly motivated.
