Read “How to Write an Op-Ed. . .” and “Trump Calls Omarosa Manigault Newman ‘That Dog’ in His Latest Insult”. After reading Shear and Sullivan’s article, write an Op – Ed (opinion piece) in response in which you have to address the following:

The point: does your opinion piece have a point that is clearly expressed?

Persuasive: does your up and persuade the reader?

Hook and structure: does your Op-Ed engage the reader right at the beginning? Is there actual evidence of thoughtful organization? Did you summarize the main point at the end?

Tone: is your op-ed polite and respectful? Is a focus on persuading the reader rather than voicing your indignation or condemnation?

Additionally, make sure you can identify the following in your Op-Ed:

Logos: how can you make your argument consistent and logical? How can you find the best reasons to support your argument? Are you using the best evidence to support your point?

Pathos: how can you make the reader more open to your message? How can you best appeal to your readers values and interests? How can I gauge my reader emotionally and imaginatively? – Humanization!

Ethos: how can you best present yourself in an effective manner? How can you enhance your credibility and your trustworthiness? Tone = polite +respectful + one point well made.
