Professionalism in my opinion is the art of conveying the message to the fellow workers in a way that they not only understand the bottom line but also never get a negative feeling about the person. Professionalism is not only required in communication (Written and oral) within the company but also in the attitude and cloths worn inside the premises of the office building or any formal setting.

We live in an era where team work has become a part of every company. People work with lots of others and report to cross functional departments. We cannot expect a person who uses short forms like ‘Gr8’ for great and ‘gud’ for good etc. to be sincere. Being professional shows the seriousness and sincerity a person has towards the work assigned. Such a behavior builds credibility in front of the clients. I think to be clearer; I just want to ask one question. Whom will you invest on: a person who gave presentation in shorts and was using slangs while formal presentation or a person wearing suit and presenting in a professional way?

For me professionalism is just not the cloths or writing proper mails but an attitude. We all need to develop and practice this attitude while in college to master it before we join any corporate. We can try to behave professionally in class with our professors and with our classmates. We should take baby steps by learning proper professional communication both oral and written and then bring it into our habit.
