Elasticity is possibly as important, if not the most important, economic concept that will be addressed this class. It is important in choosing a career. It is important if running a business.

For example, I love art. Fortunately for me, I'm not very good at it so it was never a consideration. Why? The reason is simply that I know far too many students who have pursued art as a discipline who now make pizzas for a living. One of my god-children studied medieval languages; the languages that no one uses anymore. She even went to a prestigious private college in New York state at great expense to her family. After graduation, she re-trained and works as a paramedic.

Consider your path carefully. Some may choose art. My next younger brother choose drama. He never made much money, but he made peace with that. That's OK if you go in with your eyes wide open. It's a very unpleasant shock to be extremely good at something, only to have to earn a living doing something completely different.

In this discussion, carefully examine different degree paths at SJDC. Look to see if jobs in that area are increasing. Are many students choosing to go into that path?

Use knowledge of elasticity to your advantage.
