A study of the New York taxi industry found that, in 2005, taxis under lease experienced 62 percent more accidents and 64 percent more driving violations per mile than did taxis that were owned by their drivers. Similarly, taxis under lease failed vehicle emissions and safety inspections at a rate 67 percent higher than that of taxis operated exclusively by owner-drivers. Why might this be?

2. Disc golf is one of the fastest growing sports in the US with hundreds of new courses added each year. Most disc golf courses in the DFW area are built either next to electric transmission towers, on flood plains, in run down parks, or alongside drain ditches. (Suffice it to say that players endure fairly "ugly" disc golf courses, compared to, say, a conventional golf course). The nicest disc golf courses tend to be outside the city limits, which is interesting because most players don't even live there, and the price to play is the same. Why would this be?
