Barry is a 17-year-old musician who has recently come to the attention of a major recording company, who wish to sign him up to their label. Barry currently generates profits of approx. 6000 per annum, from a profit share with an online streaming platform

Their offer includes a three-album deal, a signing on fee of 10,000 and a commitment to ensure that he can travel with established stars to build his profile. His yearly income thereafter will be dependent on sales both hardcopy and electronic, of which he will receive 25%. The remaining percentage will be used to meet costs associated with touring, security, management fees and the company's cut. As part of this deal the recording company will have exclusive rights to publish all his recordings for a period of 5 years.
