1. Case Study 1

Suppose a trading company is composed of a distribution center and a supermarket chain, where the distribution center includes a purchasing department, a finance department, a distribution department and so on. In order to improve the management efficiency, the company asks your group to design an information management center for the distribution center.

When the supermarket puts forwards delivery requests, the warehouse will check its inventory. If the good is in stock, an order will be sent to the distribution center for sending out the good. If the good is out of stock, both the purchasing department and supplier will be noticed. They need to communicate with each other about purchasing issue. After the merchandise is sent to the warehouse, the finance department will be notified to arrange the payment. Based on the project background, answer the following questions:

1.1 List the user classes in this project. (5 marks)

1.2 Use a high-level data flow diagram (DFD) to show the main activities. (10 marks)

1.3 There is a use case, Request Merchandise, in this project. Write a specification of this use case. In the specification, you need to include the description, preconditions. postconditions, normal flow, alternative flows and exceptions. (10 marks)

1.4 List at least 5 different functional requirements based on the Request Merchandise use case. Label each requirement properly. (15 marks)

1.5 Give priority for the listed requirements. Discuss the importance of the requirement prioritization. (10 marks)
