1. Describe an opinion that you hold. Is that belief you hold a desirable or an undesirable characteristic? What percentage of the population do you think share this belief with you? How would you find if your estimate is an example of the false consensus or uniqueness effects? Does your estimate influence your self-esteem? Would you rather be more accurate in an estimate like this if it meant having lower self-esteem? Which functionaccuracy or self-protectiondo you think is more important and why do you think so?

2. Describe a time when you found yourself demonstrating the self-serving bias. What task were you doing when you experienced failure, and how did you explain the reason for that failure? How did that explanation make you feel about failing? What about the task you did when you experienced success? How did your explanation for why you succeeded contrast to the way you explained failure? Why do you think you were motivated to explain your success that way? What was your feeling when you were explaining your success?
