1. Discuss data analysis and the validity and reliability of data in the following proposed research study. Research Question:

Will increasing breastfeeding education through monthly classes for mothers enrolled in the WIC program in Orange County, increase the initial breastfeeding rates among young mothers? The first step of data collection will be for recruitment through a pre-survey of prenatal women enrolled in the Orange County WIC program. The requirement for this pre-survey is to be enrolled in the WIC program and be between 4 - 12 weeks of gestation. The questions will be relating to age, health conditions, ethnicity, number of pregnancies, desire to breastfeed, level of breastfeeding education, and whether the partner is present. According to the results of this pre-survey, women will be chosen if they are in their first pregnancy, if they have not attended any other lactation education program, if they are from the three ethnicities chosen to be studied, and if they are between the ages of 16-25 years old. The study group will be enrolled in a monthly support group while the control group will receive the standard required breastfeeding classes throughout the period of gestation while on WIC, and up until infant is delivered (about 8 months total). A post-survey will be given to every woman enrolled in both the control and study group at the time of their postpartum appointment. Questions regarding desire to breastfeed, health conditions, and level of breastfeeding education will be asked once again. The way we will measure the initial breastfeeding rate is by assessing the answers to questions like "How are you feeding your baby?", "Are you exclusively breastfeeding?", and "What food package will you be receiving today?". The number of breastfeeding classes will be tallied for each woman in the sample chosen and measured for relationship.
