1) For this week we will look at outrageous fashion then and now. This discussion has 2 parts. PLEASE REPLAY WITH IMAGES

In our Directoire chapter 11 we met some fashion extremists, the Merveilleuse and the Incroyables.

Please share your favorite representation of these marvelous and incredible people from this time era preferably one we have not looked at in our slide show or our book. It can be an accurate or satirical representation of them. Please show us both a man and a woman which may require 2 picture selections and tell us if you think they are being represented accurately or satirized. Since the change in fashion was extreme it provided people with something to make fun of.

Please supply a current modern picture of someone you consider to be outrageous or extreme in their fashion today. It will be interesting to see them side by side with our historic extremists.

This differs from our module 5 discussion about innovators where those people were leading others to a certain look. For this discussion there may not be any followers and the person may just be extreme in their fashion choices.

It seemed like you had fun looking for images and sharing them with each other. You had the opportunity to see more variety of the items we see in our slide show. Please find one image (more if you like) for your assigned item and tell us what it is, and something you know about it. Please look for photographs where available. Keep in mind the items may be found during later times and the era you are looking for is specific 1850 - 1869.

You are looking for images we don't have in our book or in the slide show. The images are to be from our era of study not from something more modern or earlier. Do not rely on Pinterest for accurately dated pictures as there is no monitoring for accuracy.
