1.) I was born in the early 2000's so I have been using Microsoft Word for quite some time after being introduced to it in elementary school and using it regularly in high school and college. Majority of my time using Microsoft Word I have written papers in MLA format so APA is new to me. Thankfully with this class, Galen's pathway to success course, and other school resources I have been able to learn this new writing style and adjust. The biggest challenge was the references but luckily I learned a trick from a fellow classmate who showed me that Microsoft Word has a reference tool that will cite your sources and transfer it directly on your paper. Other than that I have caught on rather quickly. 2.) With the help of GCF Global and the tutorials it gave me clarity and confidence on how to use Word and it's functions and like previously mentioned Microsoft Word is something I have used for most of my academic life.3.) This is a trick I learned from a fellow classmate, it can be used in both Microsoft Word and Google Docs. If you navigate to the top of the page you will see the word "tools" click on it and it will display more options, one of which being "citations" if you click on this a column will open to the right of the page from there you can change the format to APA 7th edition. From there it will give you all the necessary information to create a reference but it is up to you to accurately fill in the blanks and it will do the rest with formatting. You can do multiple at a time and the application will save your references and even put them in alphabetical order on your page with the title "References". This was a huge life saver when I wrote my first APA formatted essay. I hope my classmates wonderful discovery can help you all in the future. 4.)Microsoft Word is an incredibly versatile tool that can be used in various aspects of academic, personal, and professional life. Word is excellent for drafting and formatting essays, research papers, and assignments. Its formatting features ensure adherence to academic guidelines. Word's track changes and commenting features facilitate collaboration on group projects and peer review. In your personal life, you can create simple tables or use templates to manage personal finances, track expenses, or create household budgets. In your professional life, Word can be used for creating and maintaining documentation such as policies, procedures, and project documentation within organizations. As mentioned by Nancy Bellucci in the "Looking at the Bigger Picture" video Word has been very prominent in her academic life, while working to become a nurse Word was very user friendly and assisted her in writing papers, creating tables and using smart art.
