New Castle Care, LLC, operated the Arbors Rehabilitation Center. Dr. Ralph M. Auriemma worked at Arbors. After the medical director for the Arbors unexpectedly died, Aurigemma and many other doctors expressed an interest in filling the newly vacant position. Aurigemma stated that individuals from New Castle Care made him interim medical director and on September 4, 2003, created an oral contract under which he agreed to serve as permanent medical director from October 1, 2003 until October 1, 2004. On September 13, 2003 New Castle signed a written contract with another doctor to be medical director at Arbors.
