The purpose of this project is to provide cutting edge navigation services to anyone stepping into Humber College, North Campus. Humber College Institute of Technology & Advanced Learning is a fantastic institution producing tomorrow's leaders. We see a chance to create a product with innovative software, distribute it to Humber students, staff, and guests, and encourage increased engagement in the classroom and on campus.
The North Campus of Humber College is located in Northwest Toronto on 100 acres of parkland close to the Humber River. More than 19,000 full-time students attend Humber. The vast site has dormitories for students, a library, sports facilities, a sauna, an indoor pool, and a fully operational spa. The campus is divided into several study zones by a number of buildings. The campus is home to a number of cafes, a pub, a fine dining establishment run by students, as well as The Arboretum, a stunning park covering 100 acres.
For students and visitors visiting Humber's North, The University of Guelph-Humber, International Graduate School, and Lakeshore Campuses, a wayfinding software called Campus Compass has been developed. Using indoor navigation technology, the app has been developed to search and navigate classrooms, services, and facilities while providing optional accessible paths. The app offers tech help, dining alternatives on-campus, space and service exploration, and transit scheduling. The software was most recently updated in January 2022.
The application is well-curated and packed with intriguing features, but it falls short of aiding students with the most fundamental duty for which it was designedguiding them to their lecture halls. The application's navigation system is not intuitive and does not offer the optimum user experience. It's pretty nerve-wracking to return to college after spending the previous two and a half years confined indoors due to the epidemic. The students shouldn't have to stress about locating their classrooms and being late since they are eager to return for in-person sessions yet overwhelmed at the same time.
