1. Infant sleep training is a set of parental interventions, to promote night sleep and decreasing nightime signaling. The ultimate goal with these interventions will teach babies how to sleep like people do every night. Babies are usually not ready for sleep training until about 4 to 6 months old(Vyas, 2024). According to The Academy of Pediatrics, there are many different types of intervention that can be implemented safely to accquire a sleep routine(American Academy of Pediatrics, 2022). There is the cry it out method, also known as extinction, which the parents create a time and routine for the baby to go to sleep, kiss and hug them goodnight, then leave the room. If the baby cries, the parents do not enter the room, eventually tiring themselves out and back to sleep. The Ferber method, similar to the cry it out method, is when the parents respond to the crying infant right away for the first two nights, but overtime gradually increase the respond time. The method that caught most of my attention was the Fading Method. The Fading method consists of "Camping Out", which encourages the parents to stay in the child's room until they fall asleep. Overtime, each night the parent will graduall move further, but still in the infants sight, with no verbal or physical contact. It is natural that the infant will be attached to the parent because they're small and fragile(Wolf, 2003). 2. Parents do not specifically have to wake up their baby every four hours to feed, but should monitor they're intake on a daily basis for growth. Individual differences make it difficult to find accurate nutritional needs(Santrock, p114). There are guidelines that recommend approximately 50 calories per day for each point the infant weights. 3. There are certain books, toys, and videos parents can give babies intellectual advantages such as mirrors, ring stack, and push-pull toys(Nemours, 2018). The first 4 months, babies begin to reach and grasp objects, so they begin to learn touch and taste. With mirrors they can see their reflection; facial expressions, drool, and overtime understand that it is a baby in their sight and eventually understand that its their reflection, Ring stack will teach them about colors, shape, and stacking. Toys like these and constant interaction will allow the child for higher intellifence, 4. The reason why siblings are often very differen in temperament is because of genetics.(Koehler, 2019). The big 5 personality characteristics are conscientiousness, agreeableness, neuroticsim, openess, and extraversion. In behavioral genetics, studies suggest the genes inherited play a big part in psychological variables. In addition to personalities, children creating their own environment can influence personality and temperament. In a household of siblings, one child can be challenging and stubborn, while the other does not demand attention. The reaction of the parents will most likely be different for each child, in result in different enviomments. References: Erin J.
