2) Assume that Sally is fired, and three candidates are interviewed for the open accounts payable position: Jane is 55 years old with 25 years’ experience JJ is an attractive 20 years old transgender college student with no experience but has an eager can-do attitude Bill is a 30 year-old male who is wheelchair bound. His references are excellent. If Bill should be hired, ALFA will have to make some alterations to enlarge the work space in order to accommodate the wheelchair. A cost estimate to make this accommodation is about $200. Which, if any, of these candidates should ALFA hire? Comment on the application of each candidate.

3) Jim, the manager of the shipping department, worked for ALFA for the last 25 years. He was fired when he made negative comments about work conditions at ALFA to the local newspaper. ALFA does not like to receive bad press and immediately fired Jim. He has retained legal counsel who sues ALFA for wrongful discharge alleging that Jim was fired in retaliation for his negative comments. Will Jim succeed in his action against ALFA?

4) Sarah, a 62 year-old female, has spent her entire working career with ALFA as a handbag designer and has been a loyal employee. Sales, however, for ALFA-style handbags slumped in the last two years. ALFA thinks it should move in a different direction and hire a younger person to invigorate the handbag side of its business. Can Sara be terminated?
