1. Share the operational definition that you came up with for scenario C in your individual assignment from this week (in case you forgot, this is scenario C:)An ad for a new vitamin supplement claims to reduce the appearance of aging (specifically, fine lines and wrinkles) when taken with a full glass of water first thing in the morning. The company decides to test this claim so that they can strengthen their advertisements. The company recruits a sample of participants from their stores and randomly assigns them to either receive a 30 day supply of the vitimin or to receive nothing. After 30 days, she follows up with the participants and asks them to report on the improvement in their appearance.)

2. Second, read all the operational definitions provided by your group members. Then, reply to the post that you think is the most valid definition . In your reply, explain:

1) Why you chose that definition as the most valid definition?

THE DEFINITION OF THE GROUP MEMBER I CHOSE:

1. a hypothesis

Participants who participate in an intervention for the management and mitigation of insomnia will experience a reduction in predictors of heart disease, particularly high blood pressure and self reported stress level.

  1. your independent variable (the variable you would manipulate or change),

The independent variable of my proposed study is the exposure to the intervention. Participants would either participate or not participate in the insomnia intervention.

  1. your dependent variable (the variable you would measure)

the dependent variables are self reported stress level, which would be assessed by conducting surveys and interviews with participants, as well as blood pressure, which would be evaluated with blood pressure cuffs. These assessments would be taken as baseline assessments, within one month of the intervention, within six months of the intervention, and within a year of the intervention. The goal would be to determine whether participants who reported a self reported reduction in their insomnia symptoms also saw a reduction in blood pressure and stress and, therefore, heart disease (Lin et al., 2020).
