1 Testing for One-Way ANOVA Serena Williams Walden University 2 Testing for One-Way ANOVA Testing for one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) is a procedure used to determine the significant differences between the means of three or more unrelated groups (FrankfortNachmias & Leon-Guerrero, 2015). According to the five step hypothesis model, which ANOVA follows, several assumptions are being made. Some of the assumptions include: there are two or more categorical groups within the independent variable, the dependent variable is evenly distributed and is measured at the interval level, and each group had its individual participants that were not shared (Laerd Statistics, 2015). I will analyze the one-way ANOVA results regarding the research question: Is there a difference in a school's location and the amount of AP courses that are offered? This paper will also include an analysis of the post-hoc tests that was completed to determine the differences between the specific groups. The variables that were selected to analyze are: the number of AP courses offered, and school locale or urbanicity. The unit of analysis for this research question is programming based on school location. The dependent variable, which is the response, effect or outcome variable, is \"number of AP courses offered\" (Frankfort-Nachmias & Leon-Guerrero, 2015), and is measured on an interval level. The independent variable, which is the variable the experimenter manipulates, is \"school locale or urbanicity\" (Frankfort-Nachmias & Leon-Guerrero, 2015), and is measured on a nominal or categorical level. A clear visual display of the data (if appropriate) is also provided, and a detailed description is given about how these quantitative reasoning and analysis skills will translate into the ability to enact positive social change. Overall, the paper demonstrates an excellent understanding of the chosen variables and their utility 4 References Frankfort-Nachmias, C., & Leon-Guerrero, A. (2015).
