through the running, ready, and blocked states based on resource needs, as discussed in

subsequent sections. To support process suspension, two new states are introduced,

suspended$\_$ready and suspended$\_$blocked, to keep track of the state in which a process was

suspended. The following pseudo code shows the corresponding suspend$()$ and activate$()$

functions.
