1) Using a camera of your choice, placing the camera on a table, capture an image (im1) of a circular object situated at a distance of 2m from the camera. The object and the camera need not be at the same height from the ground. Now, move the camera along the table (horizontally) by 50cm, and rotate the camera along the vertical (Y axis) by 45 degrees towards the old camera position. Capture the scene (im2) using the camera in this position. Using images im1 and im2, select the 2 points that correspond to the ends of the diameter of the circular object, and record their pixel coordinates.
(a) Find the diameter of the circular object using Calibrated stereo reconstruction
(b) Find the distance between the camera and object along Z axis (depth) using Image Rectication. Verify that your answer is close to 2m. If not, describe what could have caused the slight error.
(Note: do NOT use the fact that the object is at 2m from the camera. Assume this Z value is unknown and derive it through your calculations, if necessary. The distance is mentioned here purely as a groundtruth reference.)
