1. What experiences does Carr discuss that you can relate to? Give specific examples. Carr talks about of experiences that I have noticed to myself lately. Immersing myself in a book or a lengthy article used to be easy. I would be so caught up by the twists and turns of the narrative. Nowadays, I have changed a lot. Reading and immensely concentrating in a book is pretty hard. My minds get carried away and loses concentration at the fourth or fifth page of a book. It is like my brain has been rewired to only concentrate for a short while. Carr talks about how lately the internet has been widely used and is becoming part of us. I can relate this to myself, I have been using a lot of internet. For more than a decade now, I have been spending most of my time online. I have been surfing and searching a lot of information from the internet mostly using my mobile phone. Doing assignments has become easier for me. Most if not all of the information is found in google. Research is very easy nowadays. What used to be researched for days in the stacks or periodical rooms of libraries can now be found in minutes thanks to the internet. Carr talks about the media theorist known as Marshall McLuhan who pointed out that media are not just passive channels of information. He says that they shape the way our brains process thought. This is true and I can relate to myself because what the Net seems to be doing is chipping away my ability for concentration and contemplation
