1. While improper framing could affect the information we have on sark attacks, I think our decisions come down to "anchoring and adjustment". Because the information we received from the media was framed as dangerous and deadly, we tend to believe it and decide to fear going to the ocean because the information we received first overweights our secondary thoughts. My mom always said "The only time I should be confident about being around water is when it's in a cup or the shower". This has always influenced the way I think about water that I never learned how to swim. While fear is an essential survival mechanism that triggers our reactions to dangerous situations, living in it could affect our decision making process.

I think we have all been entrapped in 'anchoring and adjustment' situations before. It is the aimed at putting an idea about something in people's head, so their decisions can be based on the starting point at the end. Apple could tell you the new iPhone model is going to be the best model yet with features that were not included in the previous models. They will increase the prices and people fall into the trap of purchasing new models assuming there is a huge change when it's really a minor adjustment. I have fallen for the new model trap multiple times before, because there was this idea in my head that it was better. No matter how many times I have seen that the changes are not major, I still go towards buying the new model because there is an initial information from apple in my head. Now that I'm thinking about it, I need to research the features properly before wasting my money on a feature that I don't even use and could get with a software update.

2. I believe that the psychological traps associated with fear of shark attacks would heavily fall under the anchoring and adjustment umbrella. Because by definition it says it's a decision, we often give disproportionate weight to the first information we receive. So we hear back in 2001 one when you hear about the 8 year that was attack by the shark now media makes it seems as if everyone is getting silently attacked by them. When actually worldwide there only 65 attacks that year. No it's not a good when someone is getting attack but that number is low when you're talking worldwide.

I can actually find myself guilty of the anchoring and adjustment trap as I love to fish in all different bodies of water ocean, ponds , and lake water. Well there's this myth going around that Lake Lanier in Georgia. Growing I'd fish there often but now reading social media about people constantly drowing or going missing there I tend not to go there to fish anymore. The only way for me to actually revised what decision I make is to do more research on what actually happened to the person and overcome the fear/myth and get back to fishing at that specific lake.

3. Why is the status quo trap such a great appeal? When I think about this trap I am reminded of how people have resisted the impulse to be as vocal on their positions politically or regarding certain policies for fear of being canceled. What is our recourse regarding these outcomes?

4. How does the perceived value of something impact our decision process? I could see two avenues here. Something is only worth what you will pay for it. This is based on your desire and knowledge of the item. I collect Curta calculators. They can be extremely expensive. But if you look hard, you can find a good deal. One time, I ran across a salesman demo kit for the calculator There are only like 30 of these in the world. I knew I would likely never find another. I am sure I paid more than I should, but I had to have it. Did my perceived value of the object impact my decision?
