(100 points) Consider capillary pressure measurements conducted with a mercury - air system and Figure 1 gives the measurements. First estimate the initial water saturation of the reservoir (which is equal to the irreducible water saturation for this reservoir). Estimate the depth of free water level (FWL) by assuming that the density of the water and oil are 1 and 0.8g/cm3, respectively. First, calculate the depth of the following water saturations: 0.7,0.6,0.44,0.3. Then by using capillary pressure measurements plot depth versus water saturation. Oil water contact is located at 5890ft. If appropriate, plot a semilog graph. The figure should be well plotted with appropriate scaling and labeling. Note that you need to read the measurements from a semilog graph. Please check the course website for additional handout on log scale interpolation. Figure 1: Capillary pressure measurements.
