1000kg/h of 30wt%KNO3 in water at 90C must be processed to produce dry KNO3 crystals. I've got the following equipment available: One vacuum evaporator, which can operate at 90C maximum and 50wt% salts maximum One cooler, which can cool to a minimum 5C One rotary drum filter, which entrains 1kg solution per 19kg crystalline solids One drum dryer, which has a maximum drying capacity of 15kg water removed/h My boss says I've got to build a process, using only these pieces of equipment, that produces at least 245kg/h pure KNO3 crystals. Not only that, I've got to get a flow sheet ready for his perusal within an hour, that'll convince him the process is workable. If I don't deliver, I'm fired. If I do deliver, I get a huge bonus. Should I dust off my resume, or buy that sports car I've always wanted
